Topic: Setting up Message Filter to use the Spam Score to Delete Emails

Date: November 8, 2005

  1. Select Options from the email page.
  2. Select Message Filter from the Options Screen
  3. Select X-OU-MailScanner-SpamScore: from the Filter Conditions dropdown list and then in the last field put one ‘s’ for each level of the spam score you want to filter. So in the example below there are 10 s’s, so it will filter anything with a spam score of 10 or greater.

  4. In the Filter Actions section select Discard (see above) to delete any of the messages that meet the filter conditions. (Note: You can also just create a new folder and have the filter move these emails to that folder by selecting the Move to: option instead of Discard if you prefer not to delete these messages).
  5. Press the OK button to save the message filter. You may get the following error: “You do not have a mailbox assigned to this account. Message Filter management is disabled”. The Message Filter will be saved. If you click on Message Filters you should see it in the list. Please ignore the error we are working with the vendor to get that corrected.
