Apple

Apple has two levels of software support.

  • The current version of Apple software has full support for features and security.
  • The previous version of Apple software has support only for security.

Apple endeavors to release new versions of its software every 18 to 24 months. Apple offers also support for Apple software through the purchase of a new computer from the Apple. A new Mac comes with telephone support for 90 days and a one-year limited warranty. The AppleCare Protection Plan extends the service coverage to three years from the purchase date of the computer. Microsoft

Microsoft offers a minimum of:

  • 10 years of support (5 years Mainstream Support and 5 years Extended Support) at the supported service pack level for Business and Developer products
  • 5 years Mainstream Support at the supported service pack level for Consumer/Hardware/Multimedia products
  • 3 years of Mainstream Support for products that are annually released (for example, Money, Encarta, Picture It!, and Streets & Trips)
