Prerequisites
Gather Download Information
- Log in to the Evisions Support Portal and determine the most recent upgrades available.
Search for upgrades by Product (MAPS, Argos, IntelleCheck and/or FormFusion)
- You may have received emails from Evisions announcing the releases Normally new releases are posted in the Evisions Support Portal
- Once logged into MAPS
- MAPS
- Argos
FormFusion (FF)
IntelleCheck (IC)
Create a FP or TDX Ticket
Title: “Evisions – Upgrade – “ || PRODUCT || v####
Add: MAPS / Argos / IntelleCheck / FormFusion for the PRODUCT
- Add: v##### for specific upgrade
- Add: Department Approvers for specific Products
- Argos: Registrar / FYAC / IR / Finance (and any others)
IntelleCheck: Finance and Accounts Receivables
FormFusion: Purchasing, SBS and Finance
Notify Stackholders
- Inform users of upcoming upgrades in TEST and PROD by sending an email to the Argos Reporting Group.
- Include: Product / Version / Date+Time
Schedule: Upgrades should happen during the UTS Maintenance Window (Wednesdays – Midnight to 8am).
Make attempt to get done as soon as possible.
Review Evisions Release Notes
- Product Release Guides – located on Evisions Support Portal.
- Check if any “special” or unique tasks are needed.
- If a Banner Upgrade (Finance and/or Payroll) includes any of the three customized PC programs (fabchkp, fardird and phpchkl), the person doing the Banner Upgrades will need to request “new” customized versions.
- Release Guides can be round by searching the Evisions Support Portal or via one of these links:
Upgrade MAPS, Argos, FormFusion and / or IntelleCheck (TEST or PROD)
Pre-Upgrade Checks and Steps
- Follow Release Guide and these Basic Steps
- Send a message to users logged on via the Inspector (via MAPS Admin)
Set a pop-up message for users that attempt to logon during upgrade.
(via MAPS Admin / Notifications)- Backup Server/Database by taking a Snapshot using vSphere
Note: A backup of the database is taken at 1am via the MAPS / Configuration > Backup.
- This backs up “everything” (registry, database, filesystem, etc)
To make a functional backup by launching the MAPS Configuration Tool, navigating to Server->Backups and clicking the Backup Now button.
Upgrade Argos, FormFusion, IntelleCheck
- Check for Updates
- To actually do the upgrade, check the Product+Versions (there may be more than one set)
- Click on Deactivate old versions.
Click on Get Updates - WARNING: This actually does the UPDATE!!!!
- If there are any license issues, you may get an error message in the top box.
- Likewise, if there are licensing issues, those products will NOT show in the Notification pop-up.
- If upgrading MAPS, it will ask if you want to kick off any users logged onto the system. Since you’ve given them two messages / notifications, say Yes – Immediately.
- This will log out all users, stop the Service and start the upgrade.
- Wait for Upgrade to complete
If upgrading IntelleCheck, the Release Guide may tell you to upgrade the Database. For the instructions in the Release Guide. The “evisions” password is in 1Password.
- After the Upgrade, the process automatically starts the Services.
- After each upgrade:
- Confirm version numbers for specific Products match expected levels (via MAPS).
Post-Upgrade Configuration
Check For Additional Available Updates
- Repeat the step to Check for Updates again. If there are multiple versions (you are behind), you may need to update again.
Check Evisions Applications, Notify Users and Update Tickets
FormFusion / IntelleCheck Configuration
- Open the Application from eLauncher
- Argos Validation
- Open the Argos Application from eLauncher and MAPS:
Connection to DB (use a Connector and a DataBlock)
- Notify users that the system is back online (email or MAPS message).
- Update FP/TDX Tickets
- Next day (set a Calendar reminder) DELETE Snapshot from previous day upgrade.
Note: As we learn more about the Evisions Argos product, these standards and best practices will grow and be revised to suit our environment more closely.
